2019 Sunday Jazz and Beyond—Under the Oaks Series
The series kicks off on June 16 with the return of Mads Tolling & The Mad Men. The Grammy Award-winning Danish native last performed at the theater in 2016 and we’re very excited to have him back. Performing on July 21 is Charged Particles with Tod Dickow. With Murray Low on keyboards, Aaron Germain on bass, and Jon Krosnick on drums, this dazzling group has an electrifying style. For this performance, they’re upping their game with the addition of world-renown saxophonist Tod Dickow who has played with the likes of Dave Brubeck and Harry Connick, Jr. Julie Kelly and the Marshall Otwell Trio and Special Guest Dave Becker take over the stage on August 18. Kelly is one of the most respected jazz vocalists on the West Coast, radiating pure joy with her lyrics. She’s making her Solvang Festival Theater debut when she joins jazz pianist Otwell and local legend, saxophonist Dave Becker, who will be along for the fun. Closing out the season, on September 8, is the totally unique Holy Crow Jazz Band in their first Solvang Festival Theater performance. If you’re a fan of old-time jazz and blues from the 1900s to 1930s, this is the show for you. What an exciting season this will be!
